Church Library

We have had many donations of books to our church library from folk in our congregation. We have children’s books, fiction and inspirational, we have fiction for adults, inspirational, self help and Bible study material. Keeping them organized, separated, alphabetized, and available is an ongoing job. There are cards to place your name, date and book titles on and then mark off when returned. It is done on the honor system. Thanks to Pastor Ballinger and Gary Frasure for building and painting the shelves. Thanks to Gail Osborne, Ruth Ann Harper and Wilma Sexton for helping me in getting the library functional. This is a great addition for our avid readers!6

New Friends from Memphis, TN

Rev. Iric and Lennie Headley, now part of our congregation, are former pastors of a church in Memphis, TN. They had pastored there ten years and had a couples group that met monthly. Seven of the couples came to Lexington for a couple of days to visit with the Headley’s. On Friday, April 22, they met in our Fellowship Hall for a time of food and fellowship. We met with them and enjoyed playing a Not So Newlywed game. The couples and the ones watching laughed and laughed. A good time and a time of new friendship!22

Sunrise Service to Egghunt 2016

Easter was earlier this year, so we planned to have the Sunrise Service inside instead of outside this year. Of course, it was the warmest Easter we have had in several years! We have been outside in very cold and damp weather in April, so being in March, we could have had snow. The service was about gifts given to us from the cross. Salvation, Healing, Eternal Life and Jesus Christ. The congregation had been given gift bags with cards inside to write their gift to Christ on and bring to the table. We had a great Easter service. A holy time. Then the kids had a good time hunting eggs on the church grounds after service. This year, the week following Easter was Spring Break from school in our area, so unfortunately, many of our kids were on vacation but fortunate for them! There was no service on Sunday night since we had been up early for the 6 A.M. service.779988006666777555444333222111

Valentines Day Marriage Committment Sunday 2-14-2016

What a fun day! Eight couples renewed their wedding vows! They came down the aisle to the sound of the wedding march. They came to the arch where Pastor Ballinger had them repeat vows. Such a personal day for these couples. Tears and joy were seen on their faces. Rev. Iric Headley then performed the ceremony for Pastor and Sister Ballinger. Two couples were unable to participate due to illness, and were so sorry to miss the day.
Reading of the Marriage Creed, with congregation participation, was also part of the day.

Homecoming/Pastor B’s 20th Anniversary 10/18/15

imageimageimageimageimage image imageHow exciting that our pastor has been at Clays Mill Road Church of God for 20 years!! He began with a small group that was already meeting in the tabernacle on the state COG campground. They moved to the cafeteria, then to the Bedford stone house on Clays Mill Road. The house had been renovated by the members and it was a good day when they began worshipping there. The present church was built with a full basement for S.S. Rooms and a large fellowship hall. The connected house is used for offices, storage, Bible Study and downstairs kitchen.

Revival began on Oct. 16 with Rev. Butch Paine, Oct. 17 with Rev. Ron Johns and Homecoming with Rev. Jack Whitaker. Homecoming day had a video of past events and Sis. B gave a church history.

A wonderful Homecoming meal was served in the Fellowship Hall.
