Church Christmas Party 2016

Even though the men of the church seem to love the full meals we have, they always get plenty and more at our Christmas Party when all bring finger foods! Love the dips, cheeseballs, little smokies, chicken wings, meatballs, etc., etc. Love the homemade cookies, desserts and the spiced cider! We had carols, devotion and games. Written games, and a game of making antlers out of pantyhose and water balloons (minus the water, haha), and a game where two wrapped a gift, each using one hand. A lot of fun for all ages!

Ladies Christmas Party 2016

What a great time the ladies had at the Christmas Party! Sister B, pastor’s wife, hosted the party in her home. There was plenty of food and yummy goodies, plenty of fun with games led by Gail Osborne, plenty of laughter from fellowship. Much enjoyment from opening gifts brought to exchange. A party we look forward to each year. Amazingly, the temp was so warm, there was no way to enjoy logs burning in the fireplace!

Kidz Christmas 2016

The Kidz had a great time watching a Disney movie at a local theatre. We had not done this before, so it was a different Christmas activity.

Their Christmas skit was “Happy Birthday, Jesus!” They talked of His birth, had a birthday cake and sang the song with the same name as the skit title. Morgana sang Silent Night, Jaci sang and played piano for Away In A Manger and Sarah, Jamie and Cayleigh sang Joy To the World.FullSizeRender - Copy (2)

Kidz Fall Party 2016

What a fun time! Some of the children came dressed up. We had fire pits to roast the hot dogs over and make s’mores at the end of the party. The craft area was set up in the “spooky” church garage where many things are stored. Of course they received a bag of candy and light up bracelets/necklaces/wands for each child.fullsizerender-copy-2

Shoebox Packing Party

We met at 6 and enjoyed hot dogs/ chili, chips, cake and brownies to give us the energy to fill the boxes, haha. We have gathered specific items every month to put in the shoeboxes. These boxes are sent overseas to poor countries through Franklin Graham’s ministry, Samaritan’s Purse, Operation Christmas Child Shoebox Ministry. We place the following items in each box from age 2-14, male and female. Socks, Ivory soap and washcloth, toothbrush and toothpaste, pencil box, pencils, pens, sharpeners, erasures, glue stick, crayons, markers, age appropriate toys, stuffed animal and bag of candy. Obviously the boxes are full! We had 17 come to fill the boxes and they all prayed over the boxes and the children who would receive them. Samaritan’s Purse ministers to the children when they get the boxes, and giving them a booklet printed in their language. Our church feels we are participants in this mission ministry and glad to spend the money and time it takes to make our part successful. We filled 200 shoeboxes this year! Praise God!fullsizerender-copy-16

Elves for Operation Christmas Child

Getting ready for our shoebox packing party. Our “elves” are counting, sorting and getting rid of cardboard packaging. We were told it was difficult, for a lot of overseas areas, to get rid of trash and to minimize the cardboard/paper we send. All of this organizing is to have all ready for loading each individual box. Each box gets soap/cloth, toothbrush/paste, comb or brush, socks, pencils/pens/crayons/markers/erasures/sharpeners/pencil box, toys and candy. There has to be enough of each item to fill all the plastic shoeboxes we have. fullsizerender-copy-9

Ladies Visitation

It seems we never can get together without eating before, during or after, haha! The visitation team today, was Wilma Sexton, Pam Osborne, Loretta Colvin, Gail Osborne and Sister B. We had lunch and then went to visit shut-ins and two nursing homes. A single lady and a couple were at one home and a pastor’s widow at another home. Sister Keyton has been on our list for several years now and was greatly missed at our church when she became ill. She loves it when we come and also loves the candy that is usually brought. A little spoiling is a good thing!FullSizeRender
